I should try this on Tony...

We went to Gateway mall the other day, which is a pretty fun outdoor mall. A reason to go there especially in the warm weather is the big fountain they have which squirts out water into the air at random points. In the summer, kids will literally come in their bathing suits just to play in the fountain. Unfortunately, we were not smart enough (this time) to put elijah in a bathing suit or even bring a change of clothes!

By the end of playing, we just decided to get elijah a new pair of pants and socks from the kids store across the way and Tony dried his shoes under the hand dryer in the bathroom.

But anyways, elijah learned how to say 'cheese' when getting his picture taken. Here is a good 'cheese'

Here is a strained 'cheese'

Evie is a cute snuggly baby

And finally, why does this always seem to happen when I take them on a walk?

Petting Zoo!

So we have long known that Elijah loves to play with animals. When we had our dog Zoe, he would chase her around and lay on her and pat her and just generally annoy her. Lately, since Zoe has gone to a new home (thanks Deb!), he has taken a shine to our cat Teagan, as manifested in the following:

Today started as a nice sunny day so we decided to go to the petting zoo at Gardner Village!

I thought he would think it was neat and explore a little then either be scared or get tired of it and start playing in the dirt, but no! He wasnt scared of any of them and walked up to every animal he could and pet each one with the same loving 'puh puh' said to each one (he calls all animals Puh puh's because thats what he learned to call the dog when he would pet her; puppy).

Toward the end of this video, he stops at a paticularly large goat, at which point he decides against petting it. Notice how in all the videos, you can here him calling everything 'puhpuh'.

He never ever got tired of being there either! He would pet one animal for a minute then spot another and proceed to pet that animal for a minute until another caught his eye, etc, etc. Eventually we had to just make him leave because a storm started moving in and the temp must have dropped like fifteen degrees in ten minutes. But anyway, my favorite were the little lambies. so little!

This is across from the petting zoo. There is a cool water wheel outside this little restaurant.

This happened at lunch. Elijah thinks it is hilarious to close his eyes when he is trying to do something. Apparantly it just makes things more interesting. The waitress came when he was doing this and started laughing.

Also..

Evie had her two month check up yesterday!
She is now 7lbs 13oz and about 20 1/2 inches long. That is very good growing even though it is about the size elijah was when he was born.
So dont fret family, she will still be nice and newborn-size when you all get to meet her!

More kisses

Elijahs favorite thing to do with Evie is to grab her head and give her a big MMmuah! Its terribly adorable, but sometimes he's a little rough so we have to tell him to be nice, at which point he proceeds to try to give her more kisses. A vicious cycle of loves.

Later, we give baby evie a bath. Elijah attempts to help, but to no avail.

Her favorite is when the bath is over and she gets the comfy towel.

I have found that lately elijah loves playing in his room. I thought it might be because we put all of his toys in there, but I discovered an ulterior motive.

And finally, after tony gets home from work he says he just wants to 'cuddle with his babies'. Apparently I am not one of the babies. But i get my cuddles later.

Blogging in moderation

So with my newfound freedom in the land of internet, I have to control my urge to blog all the time. Some of you may be thinking, "but we love the pictures and videos!" You see, thats the thing, I dont have new or interesting photos every single day... or so I think.

I have found that I just need to have the camera ready and whenever there is a moment I find myself laughing at elijah, I grab it and take a pic or video! Or when I am Mamama-ing at evelyn and she is just looking at me like I am a crazy person, I should grab the camera!

I just need to get adjusted to doing more daily documenting so I can do daily blogging! I used to have to pick and choose what to blog about since I would only be able to do it once every two weeks and I would condense everything into whatever I could upload in my short window of time.

Now my time is limitless! So here is Elijah showing us the breakdance moves he learned from watching Step Up with me last night.

This is just waking up from a nap, watching cartoons.

Evie decided to start yelling at me soon after elijah woke up.

Dont worry I picked her up right after the video and discovered the culprit was a poopy diaper.

And finally, last week my sister in law was watching the kiddos for me and she got this picture...
One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesnt belong....

Back Again

for more! I cant resist posting another blog even though I have nothing interesting to write about. Or maybe I do! Tony got his wisdom teeth pulled today. He passed out in the chair with a can of V8 that they had given him and poured most of it in his lap before he came back around a few seconds later. The dentist wouldnt let Tony walk home (we only live a block away) so he drove him. What a nice dentist we have. Now I wish I had taken a picture of him when his mouth was packed with gauze and he looked like he was storing food for later in his cheeks. Now he has a few hours post-op and he feels pretty good, gauze out, eating a liquidy diet of chocolate milk, protein shakes, and oatmeal.
Here are some random pictures of what goes on around here

Hallelujah

WE HAVE INTERNET ACCESS. Its a miracle, yes. the neighbors have bestowed upon us their password so we can use their internet, for a small monthly fee. I am all about splitting the costs to make things cheaper. So finally, for the first time in over a year, I am sitting comfortably in my own home, writing a blog for those who care to read it. Now I have no excuse for not posting updates with videos and pictures galore! celebrate!

So to kick things off, here are some more cute pictures of Evie.

Now lets get to the nitty gritty of happenings around here. This is what happens when I go out and leave the boys to eat the dinner i so graciously made even though I wasnt going to be there to eat it.

And to catch up on lost time, here are some past recent videos that I didnt have time to upload, the first is a short video of elijahs first haircut

And here is Elijah in his diaper roaring.

Tummy time! Its necessary for evie to have tummy time to build strength, but boy does she hate it sometimes.

Well, its getting late now, but dont fret! I can be back tomorrow to update! i love having internet!

Door!

hey all out in there in blog reading land. We are doing awesome in the Koens household. Evelyn is growing up. Shes already fighting with me about clothes and with tony about boys. Ok so we are not there yet but she is gaining weight (but dont say anything to her, she will be self conscious). She is still in her newborn clothes, maybe closing in on ten pounds im thinking. Her next check up is on the 24th so we will see how shes growing then. Oh! and she rolled over last week! At seven weeks old! hooray evie.

Elijah is taking more notice of her too. he has starting kind of doing a sort of baby talk to her. which is basically the same old babble but in a higher pitch than normal and sometimes he leans his head to hers and gives her a kiss! I think he does it mainly because I cheer him on. And he has been learning more lately. He is getting good at learning words but he only repeats them when he feels like it. At church the other day I told him to say "door", a word he has hardly heard before and i have never tried to get him to say it before, but he looked at it and promptly said Door. plain as day. So ive been trying more on him. A new favorite of his is Poop. he will walk around going 'poooooo ppp pop pp pooop' (sorry for those who think thats gross but i thought it was hilarious when he first started, lets just hope i can control that language when company is around).

Weve been enjoying the nice weather around here lately too. We've been going to playgrounds and we went on a hike.

notice how he inches himself down the slide.

Elijah helped tony work on his bike.

And to get ready for summer, Elijah got his first haircut! Hard to believe he had enough to actually cut, but the stuff he did have was looking pretty scraggly, so we got it cleaned up at this awesome kids haircut place that had race cars for seats and little tvs so each kid could watch elmo or something while they cut their hair. Geeeniiiuss.

Kisses!

Finally, this is what i found after leaving elijah alone with lunch for three minutes..

So he got a bath.

funny.
