Halloween: check.

Next comes thanksgiving, then, Christmas! Oh how I love the holiday season! Our halloween has been fairly uneventful(see below), but still its exciting just that its halloween.

Yesterday, the kids and I went to our church Trunk or Treat (which i forgot to take any pictures of, whoops). Basically, you decorate the open trunk of your car all Halloweenie-like and the kids walk around with their parents and trick or treat to your trunk! Its the safe way of doing it these days, I suppose. We mainly stuck to our van trunk and didnt do so much of the walking around since we had plenty of candy to share already. It was lots of fun, we saw lots of buzz lightyears this year. And in case you forgot, Elijah was Brobee
So far tonight we havent gotten any trick or treaters. NONE! what kind of place do we live in! No trick or treaters! Anyways, I am super bummed because we had awesome pumpkins this year.

Oh and this really did happen earlier this week.

Winter hats and winter diapers?

Here is another cute hat that Evie got from Grandma Ruthanne! This will be especially good for those colder winter days, which are coming pretty fast. there was snow on the mountains after last nights storm!

meow. can you handle that chinstrap? too much too much. cant handle that cuteness.
We got a box to hold some toys in the living room area, but elijah decided its his sittin' box from which to watch tv.

Where's daddy's bellybutton? or as elijah says it, where button? whee iis it?

Baby kisses. Evie thinks Elijah is so funny when he plays with her.

And dun dun dunn we are gonna give cloth diapers a shot! Our friends Hannah and Jon just had a baby boy and are using cloth diapers and for some reason, after thinking about it more and more, I started getting very excited about the idea, so we are giving it a try. We're starting small, we only bought two diapers and we would probably need upwards of 20 to be full on eco friendly, but they are expensive kind of when looking at larger quantities. They run about 15-20 bucks a piece, so if anyone wants to get us or the kiddos christmas presents.... send (click here) diapers! (we are using the one-size kind of diapers)

Love actually.

Besides that being a lovely movie, it also refers to family! and the holidays! Is anyone else as excited as I am for the cool weather holiday season? We got a new hat for evie from the farmers market

We finally got a Halloween costume for Elijah. One year, we will have a sewing machine and I will be creative and make matching theme costumes for us all, but for this year, Tony and I will be going as parents, evie will be in a cozy bear suit and elijah will be... wait for it.... Brobee!!
A character from his FAVORITE show Yo Gabba Gabba. Im talkin, sing-a-long-with-the-theme-song favorite.
He was THRILLED to see the Brobee outfit, but I think he was confused at the concept of him wearing it.

I cannot wait to see him with all the other kids at the Trunk or Treat at church. He's getting pretty good at saying Trick or Treat now. It sort of sounds like TickTeeet!

On a side note, we got the privilege of looking after Cara and Will's little guy, Lincoln, last night for a couple hours. He is the coolest one year old ever. As soon as i pulled out the camera, he started putting on this face. How could you not love it.

Another side note, Elijah pretended that he was going to the vet the other day by climbing into the kitty carrier.

Maybe he should be a cat for halloween?

They should invent a faster mode of travel than car.

Yes, I am aware of airplanes, but they are too darn expensive sometimes, we're in a recession people! I am also aware that pioneers had to walk pulling handcarts across the country blah blah blah, fifteen hours in a car is a long time.
Which leads me to say we spent this past week in South Dakota visiting Tony's family!

Meet stefan. Stefon? either way, here is an enormous dog that we insisted that elijah hug.We visited some of tony's friends at the end of their band practice, little did they know elijah was there to join the band.

Elijah demanded that Scott join him in his jam session

More hugs.

We got to visit friends that had their little guy in sept at 33 weeks. Same stats as evie, about 4 1/2 lbs. He got to come home last week, I think it was because he was excited we were coming and he wanted to meet us. I cant believe Evie was that size, it was like holding just a blanket. He was such a cute sleepy little man.
Can you believe it? I think he is almost 6lbs and evie almost 13.

We like him. By the way, Hannah, i am still considering cloth diapers, but after the blowout poop storm that happened yesterday, I am not so sure.
Elijah got to play with pal Aiden, but mostly wanted to run around and play in the arcade.

Falls in sioux falls, who knew.

On our road trip home we stopped at a few places to be tourists. Went to a place called Wall Drug. And a little place called Mt Rushmore. Elijah called it Shuh Shooor!

Here is evie being cute.

Updates for Evie

Both the kids had their checkups a week or two ago. Elijah had his two year, still has a big head. Evie had her six month and was still nice and tiny. About 12 1/2 lbs. 2nd percentile. At least shes in the 'percentile' range now.
We have finally started giving her baby cereal to eat! The doc said itd be ok to start her on solid-ish foods back at her four month check up but I waited for awhile because she just seemed too little and was doing good with just milk, but six months old, its time to eat!

She eats very well and makes just a little mess, other than when she insists on sucking on her fingers in between bites. The first few times she did it a lot but she does it less now which makes things a bit easier since i dont have to be holding her hand (not because im nice, its to keep those fingers out.)

Bein cute.

Here is a little tour of our new place,
Bedroom a la kitty pillow
Hopped out of the tub and wanted to play hide and seek
A peek at the kids roomKitchsy

hallway/ part of living room
back in the tub.

And apparently this is what happens while i am gone at class.

Mud pits

I am finally able to upload those videos from elijah's Piglet Plunge. Getting dirty can be hard work.

Dirty dash.

The day started out clean enough. Elijah got a little pig tattoo as his entrance ticket to the kids version of the Dirty Dash (My favorite description of it is a race that "converts boy to man and then... man to swine."), the Piglet Plunge. Its about a mile long race/reason to run through the mud.
Start!
Elijah getting his first taste of the mud. It started out as fun...
And got more fun.

While waiting in line for the slip and slide, elijah decided to explore the mountainside. And who wouldnt! Look at those autumn colors.

Ultimately, we skipped the slip and slide because the line was FOR ever, but they jumped back in at the bottom of it to continue the race! if you really want to call it that. I'd say it was just an excuse for kids to get dirrrty and take pictures.
Not so fun at this point. Elijah wasnt sure how to handle being all dirty.
Mud. Pit.

Luckily, they had a shower station set up, because this was the end result of the race.
I had some videos, but for some reason, i cant upload any right now. sorry.
